The purpose of school is to provide individuals with the fullest possible development of each learner for living productively, creatively, morally. Students develop social skills, life skills, and their environment. These skills help students in college and work life. "The purpose of education... is to create in a person the ability to look at the world for himself, to make his own decisions" -James A. Baldwin
Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquistion of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs, and habits. There are four basic purposes of education: academic (intellectual), political and civic purposes, socialization, and economic purposes.
If you were to ask yourself, what is education? Why do we need education? What's the purpose of education? What would you say?
Education means a lot to me... Growing up, I HATED school, waking up early was the worst, I would cry EVERY morning. When I got to 4th grade, I told myself school wouldn't be as bad, but I didn't tell you I was starting 4th grade at a new school 😳. I waited until I got inside the classroom, to my seat, and put my head down to cry. I didn't know anyone, well my cousin went there too, but he was in the 3rd grade. My teacher, Mr. Cooke, came over to my desk and handed me a tissue. He asked why I was crying. After me telling him, he told me to stand up, and he told me that "Life is scary, life goes on, school is scary, you'll make friends along the way, everything will be ok." The announcements came on over the intercom, and it was time to recite the pledge of allegience.
When class started, I was still kind of nervous, but my teacher my the class fun. We play games to get to know each other, heeven introduced himself and told us how his favorite food was fried chicken. The lessons were fun, he made them very engaging, everyone was excited to learn. The class wasn't like that everyday, some days it was different but very creative. I felt welcomed in the classroom. There were times when students would get in trouble, it still wasn't as bad as you would think. He was CREATIVE, he made a "box", which was just bookcases forming a box. There would be a desk in there, you would have to read a book while sitting in there.

He changed the way I looked at education. Even though I knew every teacher wasn't going to be the same, he was himself, and he changed my view of school. When I become a teacher, I want to make my students feel welcomed how he made me feel welcomed. I was scared of everything and made me look at things differently; from that day forward, I've never been afraid to tackle a challenge. Even if sometimes I may fail that challenge, I'd get back up and try again. He inspired me to want to become a teacher. I want to inspire my students to become whatever it is they want to be. I want to let them know not to be afraid of anything. Education is important because it develops a perspective of looking at life; it helps builds opinions and have points of view on things in life. Education is important because the children today are our future. Education is everything!
