Connecting Social Studies and Visual Arts

Doing so much research and reading so many articles, its really important to have subjects to connect social studies to. Just teaching straight social studies can be a bit draining for your students, but incorporating visual arts and art hands-on activities will make a difference in teaching social studies. Integrating the arts (music, art, ) into instruction is an easy way to help students find relevance and provide real context. By connecting art it allows students to be engaged with, use and create art, in many forms, provides ways for students to connect to social studies content and concepts in creative, innovative ways. Art plays a big, important role in social studies, art is everywhere, even in the past, there was art. There were pictures people painted, music people created, etc. Art can also help students make inferences by just looking at an image, hearing music, etc.
